The Effect of Using Exit Ticket and Word Cloud Strategies on Students’ Writing Skill at the Tenth Grade of SMA Negeri 1 Lahewa
Abstract
Writing is a process of expressing ideas or thoughts in words should be done at all leisure. It is implied that writing is the expression of thinking indirectly in written form. Writing is one of skills that should be mastered by the students at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Batang Natal. In fact, the students cannot write well. Thereby, the researcher implements Exit Ticket and Word Cloud Strategy to improve the students’ ability in writing skill. The purpose of the research is to investigate whether there is a significant effect of Using Exit Ticket and Word Cloud Strategy on the students’ ability in writing skill at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Batang Natal. The research is done through quasi-experimental design. The population of the research was the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Batang Natal which consists of 176 students. Then, by using Cluster Sampling Technique the researcher selects the sample of the research which consists of 60 students. Before doing the treatment, the researcher does pre-test in both of the to experimental groups. The mean score was 61.5 in experimental group A and the experimental group B was 57.83. After doing the treatment, the researcher does post-test in both of the to experimental groups. The mean score of experimental group A was 75.5 and the experimental group B was 67.83. Then, the researcher does hypothesis testing. It is gotten ttable = t1/2α(dk) = t0.025(72) = 2.002 and tcount = 2.381. It means that tcount (2.381). So, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of Using Exit Ticket and Word Cloud Strategy on the students’ ability in writing skill at the Tenth Grade of SMA Negeri 1 Batang Natal.
